Moved to Capitol Hill

Val and I have moved once again, sort of. We have the majority of our stuff in a storage unit in Virginia and the "essentials" that we need with us in D.C. We are subletting an old 'rowhouse' from a couple who are in San Diego for the summer. They left their stuff in it so it comes furnished. The townhome is pretty old, three stories tall, and has been converted into 5 apartments. We are on the second floor. It's only 2 blocks right behind the U.S. Capitol building (quite possibly the most gorgeous building in the world), and our next door neighbor is Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), literally. We are within walking distance of everything D.C. including RFK Stadium where I hope to be working shortly. So far the only negative thing about living here is that for our two cars to be parked in this area of D.C. We needed to fork over a whopping $500 to the D.C. DMV for two lousy Zone 6 Parking Permits. I can't beleive they cost $250/ea. for 6 months! That's the cheapest we could do without spending an arm and a leg to convert over to D.C. tags and plates and inspection tests and D.C. drivers licenses. However, the one good note about the D.C. DMV yesterday was the fact that from the time that I parked my car, walked two blocks to the DMV, explained to them what I needed, got my number, let the lady fill out her computer screen with all of our car info, and walk back to where i had parked Daphne (the Volvo) took only 45 minutes! Who has ever heard of a DMV issue taking that short of time? It's amazing! I loved it. They did however have a metal detector, but hey, it's governmental and in downtown D.C.
We are going to be here for at least 3 months, life is up in the air right now with options that I have on where I could be going for a job or internship around this country. So we are just subletting for at least 3 months until we see where I end up.
Once I get an extremely good picture of Val and me in front of the U.S. Capitol it will replace the Cancun picture above this post. Oooh! The anticipation mounts!!!
