Saturday I was playing football with some friends and took a hip to my left eye while making a tackle. It bruised a little and swelled some but I put some ice on it and the swelling went down. The eye felt a lot better when I woke up Sunday. Then when I blew my nose sunday my left eye puffed up and almost closed! So I went to the ER here in Washington, DC.

It looks worse than it is but docs couldn't figure out where air pockets around my left eye were coming from...there was no visible damage to bones around the eye socket.

At the worst, a small bone may have ripped allowing air from my sinus cavities into my eye socket and I'd need minor surgery. We'll see. I stumped the docs. They've never seen this before and were doing research all afternoon to try to figure out what the cause could have been (mainly because Ihad no pain around my eye to indicate that there was a broken bone anywhere - in the end they concluded that it MIGHT have broken and that I just have a super high threshold for pain - which is a true statement).

Turns out that I just need to go see an ENT to make sure that it heals properly and take some pills such as Ibuprofen (for any future pain) and a drug called Augmentin.
