Our 7th Anniversary
Posted by Nathan & Valerie at 11:18 PM |
Valerie and I celebrated our seventh anniversary this past weekend. Holding to tradition, we went away to a bed and breakfast. Last year we went to the Poconos Mountains Lovers Resort. This year we drove an hour west of Washington, D.C. to Middleburg, VA and stayed at Goodstone Luxury Inn.
The inn and estate were originally a plantation in 1768 and through a series of transactions it has been converted into a country inn with cozy English, French and Virginia style cottage retreats. We stayed in what was the original hayloft (the dining hall and registration lodge used to be the carriage house).
The scenery was beautiful, even for a winter day. It would have been even more beautiful in May or June. I'd love to go back. The main lodge was decorated festive for the holidays, making it feel very cozy for a weekend getaway.
