At 9:26 PM in Falls Church, Virginia, Valerie gave birth "naturally" to a healthy boy we named Karston James Coffey.

He weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and is 20 inches long.

Valerie didn't have too much pain and never really felt her contractions until the very end. She almost decided on an epidural because she was having lower back tightness but no discomfort with the baby. Later when the doctor was ready to give it to her she decided that since she was so far along (after he told her where she was) she would go for it naturally and get it done.

For a birthing class we used the Hypnobirthing technique, which I already blogged about.

Our sister-in-law, Rachael Heiner, videotaped the delivery while I snapped shots, some of which I have included here.
