Rocket Scientist?

Posted by Nathan & Valerie at 10:36 PM |3 comments
Yesterday during "tummy time" for Karston, I looked up at the TV (the twins were watching Ratatouille) and when I looked down again Karston was on his back. I couldn't believe it. I rolled him on his tummy again and watched as he rolled to his back. I still couldn't believe it. It had to be a fluke. Babies don't roll over in week 5. I put him on his tummy a third time and he did it again. The "Your Baby's First Year" book (thanks Jenny!) says to look for babies to begin rolling over around week 15! So today I thought it was still a fluke and put him on his tummy in the morning. There was no rolling over. I put him on his tummy in the afternoon. Again, no rolling over. Then when Nathan came home he tried it and sure enough Karston rolled from his tummy to his back again. So what does this mean? Do we have a future rocket scientist on our hands? Have we already wasted 5 weeks of SAT prep time? Is he an especially gifted child? Nah, nah, hopefully he'll just be a normal boy with string in his pockets and dirt on his jeans, who likes sports but isn't really into dragons and swords. Here he has just put himself in position to get ready to roll.

Wow! I can't believe it. My boys didn't roll over until they were 4 months. But then again Asher didn't start crawling until 10 months. Karston is going to be walking before you know it!

Maybe he'll be a rocket scientist, maybe he'll be super coordinated and excel at sports. The sky is the limit at this point! I think the youngest one of my babies rolled over was 2 months. WTG Karston!
